AutoStatus respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use AutoStatus for Slack.

Information We Collect

From Slack

When you install or use AutoStatus, we collect:

  • Profile information: your Slack username, user ID, email address, display name, and timezone.
  • Workspace details: team ID, team name, and enterprise information if applicable.
  • Status data: status text, emoji, timing, recurrence, and expiration you ask AutoStatus to schedule, and whether you choose to pause notifications during a schedule.

Automatically Collected

  • Installation and authentication tokens required for Slack integration.
  • Basic usage patterns to improve the service.
  • Error and diagnostic information needed to troubleshoot issues.

How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Run AutoStatus: create, schedule, update, and clear Slack statuses, and pause your Slack notifications during schedules where you choose that option.
  • Send notifications: confirm schedules and help you manage automated statuses.
  • Improve AutoStatus: understand usage patterns to make the app more helpful.
  • Provide support: respond to questions and troubleshoot issues.

Data Sharing

We don't sell your data. Ever.

We send the status instructions you submit, along with timezone and current-time context, to OpenAI to generate status text, emojis, and schedules. The emoji suggestion tool sends your submitted status text to OpenAI. We disable Responses API storage for these requests; OpenAI's own data retention policies still apply.

We only share information when:

  • Required by law: if legally obligated to disclose information.
  • With service providers: trusted partners who help run AutoStatus, bound by confidentiality agreements.
  • To protect rights: if necessary to investigate violations of our terms or protect legal rights.

Data Storage & Security

  • We use industry-standard security measures.
  • Data is stored on secure servers with restricted access.
  • While we work hard to protect your information, no system is 100% secure.

Data Retention

  • We keep your data to run scheduled statuses and allow seamless reinstallation.
  • Status schedules are retained while they are active or needed for the service.
  • You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing hey@autostatus.co.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data.

Workspace Admins

Workspace admins who install AutoStatus should ensure they have permission to share workspace member information with us for the service to function.

Children's Privacy

AutoStatus is not intended for users under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We'll notify you via Slack or email if we make significant changes to this policy. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
